Sachin Tendulkar is a name that needs no introduction. A Bharat Ratna awardee, he is the most respected Indian sportsman and has made India proud on the field each time he went to play. A cricketer by choice, he is the best example of perseverance, passion and talent. Some more inspiring facts about Sachin are below.
Sachin never got success quickly. He had to wait for it every time. The best example is even being the greatest batsman the world has ever seen, it still took 20 years for Sachin to score a double century (The first in ODI Cricket). All of us must be patient enough for success.
Sachin is always focussed on his game and being the best in the business, he still practised each single day without fail. He made sure he was improving each day
Once in an interview when he was asked about his other career plans, he said he hadnât given it much thought. It clearly inspires us to be so focussed on our role that we donât ever think of an alternate career plan.
Unlike many new players, Sachin was never seen boasting about his talent in front of the media. He speaks only what is asked and makes sure he is not into any controversy of any kind that might distract him from his game.
Action speaks, not words
One could hardly have seen Sachin involved in any kind of sledging on or off the field. He is a gentleman on the field, yet aggressive enough to respond by his bat and not by his words.
Love and Family
In spite of being so busy with his cricket, he never forgets to spend time with his beloved wife Anjali, who was his lover for long and his two beautiful children Sarah and Arjun.
Respect for the position
Being a sportsperson gives you a lot of discipline. Even though he was one of the most senior members in the team he followed the instructions of the captain as if he has joined the team recently.
Relation with juniors
Sachin always acted like a mentor for his junior team mates. Even though the new members are in awe of him initially and reluctant to talk, many a times he himself walked up to them and resolved their problems.
Respect the Guru
Sachin credits his success to his guru Achrekar sir who taught him the basics of cricket. He hasnât forgotten him after becoming world famous and still has the same respect and love for him.
Know when to stop
There were some criticism for Sachin during his bad phases of life. He was suggested respectfully by many cricket pundits to quit the game but he insisted and said there is a lot of Cricket left in me, and to all his criticsâ surprise his double ton came after that. He had quit the game when he felt it was the right time to do.
Sachin has inspired us in more ways than we can imagine. India is proud to have him serve it.
