Celebrated in February
This crafts mela is celebrated in February from 1st till 15th of Feb in Surajkund which is in Haryana. It is one of the largest and the rarest of its kind to be celebrated for so long and on such a big scale.
All states represent
In this Mela, all the states of India represent themselves. This year again all the states will be representing including Telangana (the newly formed state). Telangana has been chosen as the theme for this Mela.
More than 20 countries participated in this Mela last year. This year again participation from different countries is expected including African and European and other SAARC nations.
Festival of colors and happiness
This crafts mela is all about colors and delicious food all around. The international cuisines and other mouth watering delicacies are present to woo you. It reveals the true color of unity in diversity in India.
This year however the low footfalls have been a major concern for the stall owners. Their low incomes have been causing the concerns to all of them.
Celebration and Joy
This craft mela brings with it a lot of joy and happiness around. There are beautiful performances done by the folk artists and there is scintillating delicacies from all over the world. Moreover, you could check out the craft stalls from different states of India and also different countries across the world.
It is organized by the tourism department of Haryana on a very big scale.
You could reach Surajkund by rail, road and airway. The place is well connected with Palam being the closest well connected destination.
Ancient Sun Temple
Surajkund is a place where one of the oldest Sun temple was built. The temple has broken up but it remains can still be visited.
There are many fun and adventurous activities for kids there.
