Do it yourself
Instead of appointing help to take care of baby chores, you should do as much work as possible by your own. This is one of the sure shot ways of losing the excess weight that you have gained during pregnancy.
You could start working out after six weeks if the delivery is normal and after three months if you have had a C- section. Working out is really important and the old belief that if you work out then you would not have proper lactation does not hold true at all.
You will still have a voracious appetite because you are lactating. Do not starve or diet as you also have to breast feed your child but what you can do is to make healthy choices of food. Including oats and juices really help. Soaked almonds and hot water intake through the day also helps in losing weight.
A long walk with the baby can be really helpful in shedding off extra calories. Regular walk helps to fasten your metabolism and also releases endorphins which restore the overall well-being of the body. Walking is one of the most effective ways of getting rid of the post pregnancy weight. You could start with a slow walk and slowly turn it to a brisk walk.
Avoid long afternoon naps. The more active you are through the day that much faster you get rid of the excess weight. It is needed for the new mothers to stay active for a couple of years as the weight becomes a permanent feature forever. Even if you are working, you need to make sure that you walk around a little after every 15 minutes or so.
