China had a fear of economic slowdown and drastic increase in it’s population so they brought this policy.

Experts in China believes that due to this single policy, country has been able to maintain a high economic growth and has been able to prevent somewhere close to 400 million new births.

Though it required tough implementation including fines, abortions, emotional torture but it has been criticized by many people in the society.

Way forward

Now since China has officially scrapped this policy, couple now can have two kids. This decision has been taken to resolve growing problem of ageing population and shrinking workforce.
