It is said that about 6.3% youngsters suffer from hearing impairment. A Noida based non profit organization has been working to improve the quality of life of the young having hearing impairment.

It must be noted that Ruma Roka has made it her mission in her life to make the hearing impaired people employable to quality education and vocational training. This Ruma is the founder of Noida Deaf Society, NDS, and has done exceptional work for these people with hearing problems. It all started in 2005 in a two bedroom house with just 5 students and many people were place in their lives in many fields like IT, Banking, Hospitality etc.

NDS has six centers across India in places like Jammu, Jaipur,Hissar, Gurugram and Noida etc with many fulltime trainers. Firms like NIIT, Axis Bank etc fund for running the training programme and also give employment to many.

It is said that in India there are 12 Million deaf people and 80% have no idea regarding education. In 2012 NDS started an education programme for five to twelve year old. About 65 students in primary classes get benefited now.

Now Ruma Roka firmly believes that her organization would be able to bring great changes in the society in the future. Ruma Roka inspires many. Hats off!!
