Biopic, the word on which Bollywood is relying these days and its seems that Bollywood has really taken up some grand personalities to hit their story on screen and not being limited to this, Bollywood has taken some exceptional stories yet to be told to the world. After the huge Success of MS Dhoni-The Untold Story and Bajirao Mastani, Bollywood has geared up for some more. One of them is the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat- the free style Indian Wrestler who has raised his daughters to be the world champions and the role has been picked up by Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan who will portray his character on screen.
Every Biopic has a story, a hard hitting story that is formed by struggles and the will to achieve something bigger, something grand which makes you proud for the rest of your life and such is the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat, the Indian Wrestler who lives in a remote area where having daughter is a crime but he cracked the objections and raised them too as a wrestler- the unbeatable wrestlers.
Mahavir Singh Phogat was born in a remote area Balali, a small village in Haryana. Balali was a village where even fighting for the rights was considered to be a crime and in case of daughters, the village did not give expected rights but he was determined to make his daughters the kind of wrestlers he wanted and for his this dream he never gave a second thought to his ongoing job and soon he resigned from the job. He carried on forward but things were not easy for Mahavir as they seemed to be. Mahavir wanted his daughters to be the top wrestlers but in the village he was raised was bound by taboos and restricted by many self formed rights but to turn his daughters into inspiring personalities, Mahavir fought against all odds. He defied all arguments, risked his own life and career and despite all the hurdles, he stood for his daughters.
There came a time when Mahavir wanted the best for his daughters and he decided to be the coach and taught them the rules and techniques of Wrestling. Mahavir Phogat’s daughter’s- Babita and Geeta were trained hard by their father and became the first female wrestlers to win gold medal in Women’s wrestling and also the first Indian female wrestler to qualify for Olympics.
With his Daughter’s win at the Olympics, Mahavir Singh Phogat proved that success has no bar and it is equal for all an also stated that the discrimination made by them on daughter can restrict them as well as treat them unequal from boys. This wasn’t easy as Mahavir Singh Phogat has fought against all odds to prove that his daughters are best and no hurdle can them from making big and this was something against the boys and the opposers of the village and became an inspiration to all fathers.
For the role, Aamir Khan has undergone extreme physical transformation and dictum training.
