Google through its doodle has paid tribute to Dmitri Mendeleev on his 182nd Birth Anniversary.

Russian chemist and inventor

He was a known Russian chemist and inventor. He formulated the Periodic Law, and created his own version of the periodic table of elements. It is said that “he used it to correct the properties of some already discovered elements and also to predict the properties of eight elements yet to be discovered.”

Doctor of Science

In the years 1865 he did become ‘Doctor of Science’ for his dissertation “On the Combinations of Water with Alcohol”. He did investigate composition of petroleum. Also he helped to found the first oil refinery in Russia.

Periodic table

“I saw in a dream a table where all elements fell into place as required. Awakening, I immediately wrote it down on a piece of paper, only in one place did a correction later seem necessary.” He did publish his periodic table of all known elements and predicted several new elements to complete the table.
