An Indian-American woman- Dr. Vijay M Rao is a graduate of the All India Institute of Medical sciences (AIIMS) and is a source of inspiration and motivation for all. She has been named the chairperson of The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) board of directors. She is a global authority on head and neck imaging and is also recognised for her health services research in radiology.

RSNA is a prestigious scientific meeting and a precious platform to come across new innovations and technologies in the field of radiology. Vijay M Rao is attending this meeting since last 25 years and keeps upgrading her knowledge. She is member of RSNA since 1981 and has held several courses and sessions in the meeting. From 2008 to 2011, besides playing many important roles, she has served the RSNA Research and Education (R & E) Foundation as the member of the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Vijay Rao is The David C. Levin professor and chairperson of Radiology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.  In Jefferson’s history in 2002, she became the first woman chairperson of a clinical department.  Making use of her knowledge and experience, she has published more than 200 papers and 22 abstracts in the medical literature and co-edited MRI and CT Atlas of correlative imaging in otolaryngology.  In a number of major radiological organisations, for example, The American society  of Neuroradiology and American College of Radiology, she has played an important and leadership roles. She has earned various prestigious awards for her hard-work.  In 2005, she was honoured as one of the 25 women of distinction throughout the region by The Philadelphia Business Journal.

She has made nearly 350 presentations at meetings worldwide to educate young radiology researchers. She is considered as a Top Doctor in Radiology by all the fellow doctors for consecutive several years.
