“As a child I remember once my grandmother went to Gurgaon for a wedding function and got lost on her way back. She was utterly confused and had no idea where she had wandered off to. None came forward to help her. Eventually we managed to trace her, but that thing stayed in my mind because I loved her a lot and the thought of loosing her was devastating.
Years later, history seemed to repeat itself as I ran into an old lady on the outskirts of town. She had no idea where she had reached. And now, I was a police officer..I considered it an onus, to ensure her safety. I named a couple of places and helped her remember where she had to go back. That felt nice. However what was nicer was that the bus I made her board – it’s driver refused to charge her money after I explained her situation to him. In fact he even insisted on dropping me to my station. It showed me that when one person stands up to be nice, other people stand up too. Wakt toh badal hi rha hai..Meri insaniyat dekh k uski insaaniyat bhi jaag gayi.”
