Indian-American potential candidates for Supreme Court Judge!

Three Indian-American legal dignitaries may be among the few candidates who would be chosen by US President Barack Obama as a nomination for  Supreme Court judge following the sudden death of conservative icon Justice Antonin Scalia.

Currently Sri Srinivasan, Chandigarh-born is the US Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit , a favourite of Barack Obama and who has received 97-0 votes in the Court of appeals thus proving him a candidate and top contender for the post.

General Kamala Harris, 51, an ambitious political leader with Chennai roots also close to Mr. Obama could be a potential candidate as per NY Times.In 2011, she became the first woman an African-American, Asian-American, Indian-American to hold the post of California attorney general.She is running campaign for US Senate.

One more candidate is Mr. Katyal, who could also be chosen .He has immense experience in matters of patent, securities, criminal, employment, and constitutional law.He has argued about 27 cases before the Supreme Court of the United States, with 25 of them in the last six years.

Mr. Obama proposes to appoint someone as Supreme Court judge who honours constitutional duties, have impeccable credentials and perceives how laws affect the daily realities of people’s lives, the White House said. Schultz said President’s judicial nominees should adhere to a number of basic principles-The individual must be distinguished and highly qualified with a record of excellence and integrity, must respect constitutional responsibilities. They must have a commitment to impartial justice, respect the integrity of the judicial process, and adhere to precedent. He wants a judge who will faithfully apply the law to the facts at hand and use his or her own ethics and moral bearings into a decision.

Who will be chosen we need to wait and watch !
