When 51 year Jackie Hughes from Acklam was diagnosed with breast cancer she did not lose hope instead she found her love for running to keep herself positive through the treatments and chemotherapy.A reason to smile and feel happy.
Now the inspirational 51-year-old is also all set to take part in the Tees Pride 10k – and she will raise the money to help in the fight with the disease and donate to Breast Cancer Care .Her first run was the Tees Pride 10k in 2008 which she ran to get fit and lose some weight.
The race is now into its 12th year and has developed into one of the region’s major sporting events .She found it challenging to keep up with her training during her therapy, but she managed it well.She feels running lifts ones mood ,makes one feel alive and feel better about everything.It give her a bit of a buzz.
She feels running is easy , doesn’t involve any cost and can be do on our own.The race is set to take place on 4th September and the organisers of the event are asking people to get involved.
