When he saw a dream
It was Mahavir Singh Phogat’s dream to make his daughters world champions. Mahavir was inspired when he saw another wrestler Karnam Malleswari winning medal for India in around 2000. This is when he decided to make his daughters wrestlers too.
Tough task master
Geeta and Babita were given tough training by Mahavir Singh. They were trained equal to male wrestlers. As a coach he was very tough. Both the girls accepted that if it wasn’t their father they probably would have left the coaching as their father was very strict and disciplined.
