Selfless charity is one of the most noble task that a man can do in his life. World is in greater need of charity. The willingness of the vada-pav seller in Mumbai to help selflessly, is his rare and good quality indeed. People are often reluctant to help others. But the vada-pav seller possesses such an unselfish loving heart that his love and care is not confined to his family circle, but he cultivates the charitable habit to love and sympathize all those who deserve it.
Mangesh Ahliwale, a small vada-pav seller in Mumbai decided to donate a sum of 20000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Love of God and service of man is the secret of true life. With his gesture, he wanted to grow in love, purity and self-sacrifice. Many places in Maharashtra including Marathwada and Vidarbha have been facing acute drought for sometime and the government had appealed people to come forward and put in their best efforts for drought relief in the state. Ahliwale took this decision to contribute to help farmers in drought-hit regions of Marathwada and Vidarbha by donating his one day income. Therefore, he increased the selling price of his vada-pav from Rs.5 to Rs.12 for one day and collected Rs.20000 by the end of the day and handed over the cheque to CM Devendra Fadnavis. The thought of farmers pain or misery troubled him and he tried his level best to alleviate that misery. He is very sensitive to the feelings of others and was deeply moved hearing of the victims of drought hit areas.
There is no denying to the fact that rich section of the society has always contributed towards upliftment of the poor, but Ahliwale proved that if people who are even though not reasonably well-off contribute anything in terms of money, food , clothes or even empathy, the world would definitely be a better place to live in.
