Arab – When you say this word, what pops up in your mind? Yes:) I think we are all on the same page. Hijackers, terrorists, rich Sheik, purdah wearing women. These are the misrepresentations of Arab identity in our minds.

These damaging explanations of Arabs are developed upon the origin of Arab identity, and definitely, the variety and majestic level of individualities incorporated to the Arab World.

Rami Malek – winner of Critics’ Choice Award and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series is the first non-white performer in 18 years to win the award for the BEST ACTOR IN DRAMA SERIES for USA Network’s drama-thriller “Mr Robot”

This notable moment encouraged series of tweets which recognized Malek as an “Arab American”.

Arab American Institute in Washington, DC has recommended his triumph as, “balm for Arab-Americans normally stereotyped or absent in Hollywood”.

Did Malek create “Arab-American” or “Egyptian-American” history? It depends on how the Emmy winner identifies himself: picking one side of the Arab and Coptic divide, or choosing to embrace both. Whatever he prefers, everybody wins:)

Malek’s notable works can be seen in Night at the Museum trilogy,  The War at Home , The Pacific , Larry Crowne, The Master, Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and Short Term 12.
