92-year-old Rebecca Chandy will release her book ‘Tried and True’ It is a curated collection of her late sister Saraswati Kurien’s recipes.It took her 3 years to compile all her famous and favorite dishes, 173 of her best recipes from sweets to savories.An idea conceived by Saraswati’s daughter–a true tribute to her!
The two sisters, have an 30 year association with the landmark Cultural Academy with Rebecca as its principal and Saraswathi as a teacher of cookery Rebecca recalls how she used to teach public speaking and current affairs at the Academy at the institute. The academy’s main mission and purpose was to be a finishing school for girls so as to train them to be the perfect wives of diplomats and good homemakers It provides an education that will help in development of women and will be life oriented, career-oriented and community-oriented too.
The book is being launched at Amethyst by food columnist and broadcaster Sabitha Radhakrishnan, and will be available on Amazon.Sabitha, had earlier enjoyed Saraswathi’s cakes during her stint at the academy and she feels that her recipes would be an interesting value-add for every home cook.
