Getting proper education is very necessary to get success and happy life. Education promotes the feeling of physical, mental and social well being by providing better life. Good education is constructive in nature which constructs our future forever. Thus, a 52 year old, Sandeep Desai has stepped out of his comfort zone, in order to provide education to the underprivileged children.
Sandeep Desai is a Marine Engineer by profession and a MBA. He has been teaching in reputed B-schools in India. He is the founder trustee of the Shloka Missionaries. He left his corporate job of teaching at management schools like SP Jain Institute of Management. He started begging on the crowded local trains in Mumbai for the sake of poor children. His interest was only to support the education of underprivileged children in remote areas of Maharashtra and Rajasthan. By begging, he tries to raise funds for running English medium schools. He is begging for more than four years now.
He carries several paper cut-outs which talks about him and make people aware about his mission. With the popular slogan,’Vidya daan, Shrestha Daan (donation towards education is the greatest donation), he invites common people to make more and more charity. He also displays newspaper articles talking about the schools he has already set. His presence in the trains everyday speaks about the truth in his initiative and efforts.
At the initial stage, he faced many disheartening difficulties. He didn’t get any donation from anywhere. He approached many corporate companies to donate from their corporate social responsibility fund. But there was no hope on any door. But as his efforts were always sincere, the famous Bollywood actor, Salman Khan, supported his selfless initiative by making huge donation.
Sandeep’s mission is helping educate the children of 4 villages including one of the most backward region of the state- Vidarbha region. He has made it possible for children of remotest areas to go to English Medium Schools which their parents could never afford it before.
