Sikki Reddy, the young upcoming badminton star has a ‘never-say-die’ attitude. She was one the best junior players until she suffered the serious knee injury. She underwent surgeries in order to recover from the loss. This injury forced her to shift from singles to doubles, but with her determination she is playing wonderfully and making India proud.
Sikki had a painful year of injury. During that era she thinks her coach to be the greatest motivation as she says, “I think my greatest motivation was my coach, Gopi Sir, as he, in his career, went through 5 surgeries and still made a comeback and won the All England Open.” She also faced a transition from junior to senior team this year. Ms. Sikki has been the national champion thrice in the Junior Singles category.
Ms. Reddy thinks that her parents have a major hand behind her success. Aparna Balan is her doubles partner and she thinks their compatibility is too good as Aparna is good friends with her off court too and they share a healthy relationship. The young girls stayed out of the game for a year and made a memorable comeback after her rehabilitation. Her coach had a major hand in continuously motivating her, so that she could comeback in the sport.
After her recovery from the knee injury she even won the Nationals in doubles tournament which proves her efficiency. To achieve the success she certainly has been working very hard. In order to reach the level of national appreciation, she says,” I train at the Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad and there we follow an intense routine with four sessions per day. I think it’s all the hard work that pays off in the end. ”
