He wrote many books on Yoga including Light on Yoga, Light on Pranayama, Light on Life, Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali etc.
Health issues in childhood
He faced many health issues in his childhood. Due to influenza pandemic at birth he had to face many health issues while growing up. He did mention that “My arms were thin, my legs were spindly, and my stomach protruded in an ungainly manner. My head used to hang down, and I had to lift it with great effort.”
How Yoga helped him
Iyengar noticed that while doing asana, it started improving his health condition. With his many years of dedication, learning and teaching Yoga, he became international yoga guru. Many international and national celebrities learnt yoga from him.
Awards and recognitions
He was awarded Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan by Government of India. He was also named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
