Vasu Sojitra One-legged Skier who didn't give up

Skiing is art. Its a great work-out that one can enjoy. It is one of the most popular sports nowadays. Vasu Sojitra, a 23 years old, is differently abled talented human being. He is passionate about skiing. When he was nine months old, he suffered contracted septicemia, which is an infection that caused a blood clot in his right leg. As a result, his right leg had to be cut.

Vasu Sojitra has got BS in mechanical engineering from university of Vermont. His prosthetic leg never set him back of others. He played soccer and hockey in his school. Skiing is his addiction in every winter. He skis on just one plank, supported by a pair of outriggers under his arms. The hem of his right ski pant is spinned up near his right hip in order to make it convenient for him. The passion and the love for this wonderful sport has been captured in a short film: ‘Vasu Sojitra- out on a limb’.

His parents have never treated him differently from his brother. Luckily, he has always got support and warmth from his family and fellow beings which helped him to raise his own standard and make his life with one leg, his lifestyle. He took this gracefully and changed his life on a positive note. Skiing has also become an integral part of Vasu’s lifestyle. He skis the back country every winter for 20 or more days with full enthusiasm. He is an inspiring personality who teaches every differently abled person that no one of them is less than anybody and can achieve their every goal in life.
