Vidhyadaan: Innovation in Government- Run Schools

Vidhyadaan Innovation in Government- Run Schools

People prefer private schools over government schools. There aren’t proper buildings of government schools and teachers aren’t able to focus more attention on individual students. Government schools are considered to have low quality education as compared to private schools and also face lack of proper infrastructure.

Therefore, to raise the standards of 225 government schools operating in Indore district, Indore district school education department and civil society organizations have launched a noble initiative- Vidhyadaan, wherein, people belonging to different educational backgrounds are asked to volunteer their services by teaching students from class 5th to 8th.

The initiative has got tremendous response at its initial stage. 288 people registered for fellowship out of which 105 candidates have shown interest in teaching students of class 8th and 72 people teaching students of class 5th. 729 people from different educational backgrounds got themselves registered as volunteers online. The team members or volunteers were presented for the screening procedure and they also took part in subject wise interactions on selected days for being sure about the teacher’s caliber and skills.

For current academic session, only three months are left now and volunteers can also register themselves for 3 months only. But in next academic session, there is a huge expectation for more and more volunteers joining in and making it more successful. This initiative- Vidhyadaan, is designed to bring out positive and big changes in the government-run schools in the districts with more individuals desiring to be a part of this change and volunteer their services by imparting education to students. This will give a new shape and innovative looks to government schools which will for sure change the traditional mindset of people about government-run schools.
