Vivek Oberoi’s new role will be an inspiration from Lalit Modi’s character in new web series


Indian Premiere League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi’s character would be an inspiration for Vivek Oberoi. According to sources, 40 year old Vivek’s character is inspired by the former tainted cricket administrator. The web series is being currently shot in Mumbai and is expected to go on air by year end.

Lalit Modi’s whose name came in limelight during the scandal in the IPL over the alleged money laundering, he was sacked as a commissioner of IPL in 2010. He is currently on a self-imposed exile in UK and the web series is based on the same.

The web series is titled “Power Play” and will be a 12-part episodes and is said to be based on cricket tournament Indian Premiere League (IPL) and the controversy surrounding it, in the recent years. The series will be directed by Karan Anshuman, also the director of “Bangistan” and will be produced by Excel Entertainment- a Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani company. The series will star Vivek Oberoi and Richa Chadda in the main lead. Other actors include names like Angad Bedi and Gulshan Devaiah.

Richa Chadda’s character will be played by Preity Zinta who co-owns the IPL franchisee while Angad Bedi’s character is loosely modelled on limited over captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Gulshan Devaiah will lay a character with grey shades.
