We all know about Disney world as how they rule the theme park entertainment across the globe. Every kid in his/her lifetime wants to visit that place. Now a new name has got added into this filed. Known as ‘Wanda’, China’s richest man Wang Jianlin has in a sense declared war against Disney and has opened first theme park which comprises a giant mall set over two square kilometres, as well as an 80-hectare theme park boasting “the highest and longest roller coaster and the highest drop tower in China”, according to a statement by the group as published in the media.

Wanda theme park project is completed in 22 billion yuan ($3.4 billion). Theme park is opened in ‘Wanda City’ in Nanchang, east China’s Jiangxi province. This project is launched in order to make Chinese presence in the cultural domain. Wang Jianlin has said in an interview to a channel “This craze for Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck is over, the period when we would blindly follow where Disney led has been gone for years”.

Wang Jianlin and his Wanda group are not going to stop here. Rather they have much bigger plans. By 2020 they are targeting to open 15 such theme parks in China. “We want to ensure that Disney will not be able to make a profit in this (theme park) sector in China for between 10 and 20 years” that’s what Wang is expecting. But experts believe Wanda group’s lack of experience in this filed could be a hurdle in ambitious plans of Wanda’s.

Wang Jianlin is a leading Chinese businessman and philanthropist. Chairman of Dalian Wanda Group China, Wang Jianlin started his career at the age of sixteen years with People’s Liberation Army. His journey from rags to riches is inspiring. Wanda group is China’s largest real estate developer and world’s largest movie theater operator. Wang Jianlin doesn’t stop here. He owns twenty percent of the Spanish football club Atlético Madrid.
