Ministry of Water Resources was formed by Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi immediately after winning 2014 General Elections by keeping in mind to clean Ganga, India’s most important river. It’s not that Hindu sentiments are attached to the Ganges but it is important from environmental point of view also to get Ganga clean and save it from pollution. There are many advantages if Ganga is cleaned. Apart from health there will be water transportation, purified drinking water, farming and other uses of cleaned water.
After setting up the separate Minister for Water Resources, BJP Leader Uma Bharti was handed over its charges. She is a religious woman and has capability to complete this project. She can communicate people at ground level. While speaking to media on completion of Modi Govt’s two years, Ms. Bharti has sent this message that by 2018 “Ganga will be among the world’s 10 cleanest rivers”. This sounds good, tough but achievable. As of today, Ganga is known as one of the dirtiest river in the world and Modi Govt is putting all efforts to make it cleanest river in the world.
There are various measures which are being taken including stopping industrial waste to be put into any river. Ministry is working with Central Pollution Control Board and other agencies to achieve their purpose of cleaning Ganga. The way Uma Bharti is working we wish her all the very best to achieve her mission by 2018 and give Indians a wonderful moment to proud of Ganga.
