Chess and cricket have certain things in common. Both these games are highly popular all over the world is well known now. It is important to note that to excel in both these games lots of planning, preparation and dedication are needed as both these are mind games that involves outfoxing the opponents. Not many people excel in both these games. One cricketer named Yuzvendra Chahal is spinning magic with the ball in cricket fields and is a highly talented chess player also. Remarkable isn’t it!!
Indian chess lovers wouldn’t have forgotten this super talented sportsman Yuzvendra Chahal as he represented India in the Asian Youth Championship in the year 2003. In the Under 12 World Youth chess championships in Greece this Yuzvendra played well.
It is amazing to note that this Yuzvendra started playing chess from the age of seven till his teens and later switched to cricket. His sensational leg spinning balls have bamboozled many players and he is now at the top of the wicket taking charts in this year’s Indian Premier League T20 tournament.
In the year 2011 he was picked by Mumbai Indians and later by Royal Challengers Bangalore and he has been playing for RCB since 2014. Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his thoughts regarding chess and said his chess talent is helping him in the game of cricket also. Wishing the legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal a great cricketing career!!
