In the past seven days, 39 instances of swine flu have been reported in Pune. 39 cases of swine flu were reported between September 10 and September 17 out of 909 cases in a year.

Based on the most recent state health department report, Pune had the most cases with 540 out of 36 casualties. Nearly 3000 people have contracted the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu) this year, and 147 people have died in Maharashtra due to the virus.

Analysis reveals that since the pandemic began in 2009, at least 3,804 people have died from the swine flu, and there have been approximately 46,570 cases of infection with the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu). In last few days, 39 Cases of Swine Flu in Pune.

H1N1 Virus and How it Spreads in Humans?

In 2009 Spring, Scientists identified the H1N1 subtype of the Flu virus.

This virus causes infection in Humans. It is a merger of different viruses from Birds, Pigs, and Humans. This H1N1 virus causes respiratory illness in humans. The World Health Organization declared a Pandemic in 2009 due to the H1N1 virus.

The H1N1 strain of influenza (flu) virus is the main cause of the H1N1 flu, also referred to as swine flu. H1N1 is one of the various influenza virus strains that can cause seasonal flu. It is a subtype of the influenza A virus.

Swine Flu Symptoms:

The symptoms of the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu) are the same as the symptoms of other flu viruses. Some Common Symptoms are :

  • Watery, red eyes
  • Body aches
  • Headache
  • Fatigue

State Health Department Report :

As per Dr. Subhash Salunkhe, advisor to Maharashtra health minister Tanaji Sawant said the impact of coronavirus infection has slowed the spread of the H1N1 virus. He also made a compelling argument for immunization against four types of influenza, especially for the elderly and those with comorbid diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

Meanwhile, in 2019, there were 2287 cases of swine flu with 246 casualties in Maharashtra before the covid pandemic. According to a report, The State Health Department saw a total of 1600 cases of swine flu in 2020 and 2021. There have been 2992 cases of the H1N1 virus also known as Swine flu reported with 147 deaths to date in Maharashtra.

Pune Municipal Corporation Report : 

Updated statistics from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) show that since January, at least 880 people have tested positive for the swine flu. Dr. Sanjeev Wavare, Assistant Health Chief, Pune Municipal Corporation, reports that 39 people have passed. However, 15 of the 39 patients were from Pune city, while the other patients sought treatment here but were from distant regions, according to Dr. Wavare.

Cities like Kolhapur, Nashik, and Thane have reported 15 swine flu-related casualties individually, while Ahmednagar and Thane have reported 11 deaths. With 345 cases in Mumbai, 327 cases in Thane have the most instances of the swine flu after Pune.
